What is a Pet?

A pet can be any domesticated animal that is part of your family. A pet is an animal that needs to be taken care of and loved. Through this lesson, children will understand what a pet is and what it needs to be healthy and happy. This lesson focuses on defining what pets need and how people take care of animals as well as how pets help people.

We All Have Feelings

Through this lesson, children will explore feelings and realize that people and animals have similar feelings. This lesson will help children to understand what it means to be kind to all creatures.

Where Animals Live

Pets are domesticated animals that are cared for by people, while wild animals live with other animals, not people. Through this lesson, children will learn to recognize the distinction between wild animals and domesticated animals. The importance of safety around wildlife is also addressed in this lesson.

A Visit to the Vet

What is a veterinarian? What does the veterinarian do for your pet during a visit? What if your pet is sick or hurt? In this lesson, all of these questions are addressed. Children realize that a pet’s visit to the doctor can be very similar to their own doctor appointments and what they can do to keep their pets healthy and safe.
