VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Adoption "Showcase" Events......

We are currently looking for individuals, or a parent and child of at least 7 years of age, to serve as representatives of the Animal Rescue League of Southern Rhode Island promoting adoptions on Saturdays at Critter Hut in the Salt Pond Plaza, Narragansett.  Each Saturday, beginning this January, 2008, we would like to have volunteers who would be able to pick up two small animals (example cats, bunnies, etc.) at our shelter in Peace Dale and take them to Critter Hut.  The volunteers would also take with them a small folding table and chair, our adoptable pets "Mug Book", adoption applications and ARL/SRI literature.  Volunteers would arrive at the shelter around 9:30 AM to pick up the pets and materials and go to Critter Hut for their store opening at 10:00 AM.  The volunteers will stay at Critter Hut with the pets until 1:00 PM and then return the pets and materials to the shelter.  If anyone fills out an adoption application during the event, the volunteers will bring it back to the shelter and give it to the shelter manager for review.  We held these adoption events during the 5 weeks prior to Christmas and they were very successful.  Our goal is to have 4 or 5 different volunteers take turns approximately one week per month each during January, February and March.  Please call 401-792-2233 if you are interested.
