Library Programs

Perhaps no place in any community is so totally democratic as the town library.

The only entrance requirement is interest. (Lady Bird Johnson)

Lady Bird Johnson uttered these words many years ago, yet they still ring true today. After all, what is a library? It is a physical place that is inviting, comfortable and easy to use. It is an intellectual place where the whole story can be found and told through a variety of resources and it is a community space where a diversity of ideas, thoughts and conversations come together.

The Animal Rescue League of Southern RI is proud to offer programs at our local libraries. We are fortunate to have such rich resources within our community. Libraries are a gathering place for anyone who is interested in reading, learning and communicating. The ARL/SRI is interested in promoting humane reading choices and communicating an understanding of companion animals and their proper care. Through our summer series, we have reached an audience of eager participants who have enriched their knowledge while enjoying our activities.

Each summer, our library programs are coordinated to fit the theme that the library has adopted for their summer reading program. Last summer, we enjoyed presenting “Investigating the Mysterious Language of Dogs”. Look for our next program during the summer of 2008.

(We might even pop up in your local library over the winter. We’ll be sure to let you know!)
